I love leap years, I really do. With leap years I get 366 days of misery instead of the usual 365.

Life can be cruel alright. :(

I finally broke down a few months ago and got a digital camera. I’ve been playing around with it a bit and took some really boring pictures, some of which you can see in the “My World In Pictures” sidebar on this site. But I’ve been thinking lately that maybe I’ll see if I can do better. Broaden my horizons so to speak and take pictures of things in the ‘outside’ world (a very scary place!). So that’s what I’m doing. For now thought I just took some more pictures around the house with more than just documenting something in my thinking. I still haven’t decided exactly how I’m going to showcase them but I’ll come up with something. But here is a preview, a picture taken almost as an afterthought but I really like. The coloring came not just from the piece itself but from the setting sun coming in the back porch where this was taken. It might be simple and basic but I think it’s interesting.

So mom and I have been talking over the past several days and I tentatively say it’s positive. She has now said that she would like to sell this house and move to a nicer area. She still doesn’t want to go back east yet but this is a good step in the right direction. She has finally accepted the reality that we don’t belong here. She’s realized that apparently we are an annoyance to my sister and we basically are alone in this hellhole. I’ve known that for a while now and it’s good to hear her say it. Of course I’m not too secure in all this as mom is famous for waffling on things. But we’ll see. Guess I’ll have to step-up my decluttering just in case. Now if the stupid housing market would pick back up we could sell this house and maybe get something for it.
