Some other sites that I find useful or just enjoy. They are divided into categories and I’ll add to this page as times permits and as I come across more noteworthy sites.
Miscellaneous Sites
Emotional Intelligence - I found this site one night and I couldn’t believe how hard it hit me. Especially painful to read were the sections on abusive mothers and invalidation. As the adult child of an extremely emotionally abusive mother I couldn’t believe how spot on it was. I want to thank the site’s author, Steve Hein, for creating this site because although reading this frightened me more than I could ever expresss it also came as a relief to know that I’m not alone and that maybe someone somewhere understands.
The Dystopian Kalopsia - I came across this site many many years ago and was just capitvated. Then sadly it disappeared and I’ve just recently found it again. So I am very pleased to be able to share this site with you once again. I really don’t know what to say about it as it defies description…one of those “you have to see it for yourself” things. So go see it!
Psyke - Self Injury Information and Support - This site has a wealth of information for anyone who has ever self injured, or even if you’re considering it (which is NOT recommended by the way). This is a very hard subject but one that is more common than most people know. Just a word of caution though - there is a picture gallery that is pretty graphic and could be triggering. View with caution.
Aldous Huxley: Brave New World and other works - This page is the best link to Aldous Huxley on the web. From this starting point, you can link to other pages pertaining to all facets of this great writer.
Rockatee Design - The online portfolio of my friend Maleika Attawel, a web & graphics designer. Her creative talent is simply breath-taking and her work needs to be seen to be believed. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Jim McNitt Photography - All I can say about this site is…WOW! Really amazing photography, definitely deserves a look.
Deviant Art - A really fantastic art site. Has absolutely everything from digital art and old-fashioned photography to wallpapers and themes for any program out there. Seriously worth your time.
City-Data.com - Fantastic resource for information about practically any city in the US. If you’re looking to move (as I am) you can scope out your chosen destinations to find out all about the area. There is also a forum that not only has sections for each individual state, but also lots of general categories.
Television Without Pity (TWoP) - Obsessed with tv? This site has vast amounts of information on just about any and all television shows ever created. There are recaps and a forum where you can find the latest scoops on your favorite shows. It’s a fun site and the folks there can be ruthless in their opinions. Hey, they don’t call it ‘Television WITHOUT Pity’ for nothing ya know!.
Giorgio Armani Sunglasses - Large selection of Authentic Sunglasses from the Giorgio Armani collection.
Computer Related Sites
Wordpress - This software is beyond compare. From the simple 5 minute install process to the ability to create complex sites that can do anything you can think of, Wordpress beats all other blog programs hands down. Hugely customizable with the easy to install plugins and numerous themes you can download and edit to your heart’s content. Highly recommended. Oh yeah…it’s free too!
DistroWatch - Having moved away from Windows and onto Linux quite a while ago, I found this site to be an absolute must. Just about everything you ever wanted to know about all the different Linux distro’s is here. Check it out, you’ll be surprised how much of a more secure and happier computing experience you’ll have with Linux.
DSLReports - Great resource for all things computer. The forum is loaded with info on everything from hardware to isp’s. Worth your time.
Video Help - An amazing site, has everything you could ever need to know about digital audio & video. There are links to needed tools and the how-to guides are fantastic.
Wayback Machine Internet Archive - Take a trip back in time to all your favorite sites. Huge internet resource, definitely worth keeping bookmarked.
vBulletin - Simply the best paid forum software there is. So customizable that it could take you forever to discover all the functions. And the support community can’t be beat.
MyBBoard - Loaded with functions including a built-in portal, and amazingly customizeable. Mods are as easy as uploading a file and activating the plugin. Really great (FREE) forum software!
Music Related Sites
Kitty Radio - Formerly part of the now defunct holemusic.com, it’s become just one huge all-around community. A great place but definitely more than a little insane. And it’s NOT affiliated with Courtney Love!
The Sky I Scrape (TSIS) - Fan run Pearl Jam site with more information that you can imagine. It has a lyrics database, the Red Mosquito forum, setlist archives, audio & video and so much more. It also has links to several more exceptional PJ sites.
Nine Inch Nails - A very comprehensive site not to mention official, therefore sanctioned by the man himself. Lots of exclusive stuff including downloads and updates from Trent and the rest of the band (whoever they may be this tour). You can also access the official fanclub - The Spiral - from here but since I’m not a member I can’t tell you anything about it.
NFC - Unofficial Nirvana fan site started back around 1995 or so by Rasmus Holman. A great one stop site for most anything Nirvana, also includes a forum.
Foo Fighters - Home of the Foo Fighters, another of my favorite bands. An official site with tons of info and a bbs where the band themselves sometimes post.
